District A&P Show -- Main attractions
will be a kids' challenge, Cherry the
clown, Warwick Lilley chainsaw wood
sculpture and a mechanical bull.
There's also wood chopping, shearing,
equestrian events, home industries,
dog trials, vintage cars, trade sites and

March 10: Gumboot Day 2012 -- The
day of gumboot-throwing competition.
The day's entertainment also includes
lawnmower racing, the Baa Blacks
Sheep Racing and possibly the finals of
Levi's Strong Man nationals, a wear-
able arts competition, stalls and much
more. Groups coming just for Gumboot
Day at present are the New Zealand
Motor Caravan Association 50-plus
motorhomes and campers, The Home-
stead Pool Club, from Masterton, and
the Otatara Probus Club, from Napier.

March 24: Taihape Half Marathon --
21-kilometre half-marathon, Moaw-
hango Loop will begin at the Wainui
Hall. There is also a 10km marathon
and two 5km relays with runners from
as far afield as Auckland, Wellington
