Public notice is hereby given, in accordance
with the Hazardous Substances and New
Organisms Act 1996 regulations, that from
the 6th June 2012 or as soon as possible
thereafter, sodium uoroacetate (1080)
impregnated baits will be applied by helicopter
onto land in the Hihitahi Forest Sanctuary
located midway between Waiouru and
Taihape on the eastern side of State Highway
One as part of the TBfree New Zealand
programme. This operation will be conducted
on behalf of the Animal Health Board to
maintain low possum densities and progress
towards eradication of bovine tuberculosis
(TB) from wildlife and livestock in this area.
All toxic baits will be dyed green. All
unauthorised entry into the helipad area is
prohibited. Dogs should be kept under strict
control at all times and not have access
to, or be taken into the operational area as
they are particularly susceptible to 1080 and
The public is warned that it is an offence to
unlawfully remove any warning signs erected
on land to which the poison has been applied.

Call for Nominations for MidCentral and
Whanganui District Health Boards (DHBs) Locality
Maternity Quality and Safety Programme Advisory Groups
A national Maternity Quality and Safety Programme is being rolled out
into all DHBs across the country. The programme aims to implement the
new national maternity standards and referral guidelines, and improve and
standardise maternity information systems for reporting and monitoring
MidCentral and Whanganui DHBs will work together on this programme
and are in the very early stages of set up. To this end, we would like to invite
nominations from parties /organisations who are interested in becoming
members of either the MidCentral or Whanganui DHBs Locality Maternity
Quality and Safety Programme Advisory Groups. Key functions will be to:
• Provide a platform for communication and engagement across DHBs
• Develop an annual Work Plan
• Oversee work plan activities
• Establish a supportive and collegial environment for improving
